I love The Today Show. This morning Drew Barrymore was on and spoke about being a warrior for happiness. Its really a choice. Sometimes it comes more naturally, sometimes you have to work hard to overcome obstacles.
They say you don’t really know how you’ll handle a situation until you are in it. That couldn’t be truer. I read all these self-help books, I practice living a life of gratitude, I say all the daily mantras. I hope when faced with something extreme, these things will help me through it.
This pandemic has taught me that I can! I’m resilient, I’m strong, I’m positive and a force to be reckoned with. Instead of curling up in a ball and feeling sorry for myself, I’m reminding myself and my incredible support system that we can persevere. We will get through this.
Life is hard, everyone struggles. We must teach ourselves to keep going. Some tools I use when I’m feeling down are:
Listen to music
Call a friend
Go for a walk
Make a list of things I am thankful for
Take some big breaths and focus on what is right in front of me
Yale has made their “The Science of Well-Being” course free online. I’ve started it. I have the time, right? There’s only so much Netflix and Hulu one can handle. Take a Happiness Test and see where you sit and find ways to improve this. At the end of the day what’s really truly important is your happiness.
