Why does the term “I’m so busy” have a negative connotation sometimes? Busy doesn’t have to be synonymous with stress. What if we reframed our thinking and saw being busy as a positive thing? A busy life is often a fulfilling life. The key to managing the “busy” is having a routine.
Routine may seem mundane, but it can be incredibly satisfying. By establishing a routine, we prioritize our time and energy on the things that are important to us. This not only allows us to accomplish more, but it also brings a sense of stability and control to our lives.
Starting every morning off with the same routine leads to better days. Think about how you feel when something unexpected pops up in the morning, it throws you off, right? That’s because you have already set the routine that makes you productive, and it’s working! The same goes for when the sun sets and it’s time to end your day. Adults and children are the same in more aspects than you think. A bedtime routine can also help improve your sleep, leaving you feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day just like it does for our littles.
Routine helps us stay focused on our goals. By setting aside specific times during the day to work on a project or task, we can avoid getting sidetracked by distractions and stay on track to achieve our goals. We live and breathe by our to-do lists and post-it notes at our firm. We suggest you find an organizational tool that helps you too!
Some takeaways? Being busy isn’t stressful, chaos is. Live and work by the routine you’ve established. It doesn’t have to be a super rigid one – it's whatever works best for you. We have friends who are teachers, and every minute of their days is planned out because that is how they run their classrooms. That wouldn’t work for our career path, but guess what, they are thriving! That may or may not be your jam either, but incorporating a routine into your busy life will help you make the most out of your time and energy, leaving you feeling accomplished and fulfilled.
Ride the waves of busy, because riding only calm waters your whole life seems pretty boring to us.
